The National Horse Breeding Society of India has over the years obtained significant benefits for the racing industry as a whole. The important achievements are as under:

Successfully got the Finance Minister to amend the taxation policy which helped mitigate the burden of income tax on the breeding industry.

Amendment to Urban Land Ceiling Act which otherwise would have ensured the closure of half the stud farms in India. Thanks to the persuasive efforts of NHBSI, the stud farms have been able to survive without losing their land.

Ceiling exemption has been obtained by an act of law which resulted in government issuing guidelines which excluded the existing stud farms from the purview of land ceiling act.

Solved the critical issue of foreign exchange which placed a big hurdle in the import of mares and stallions. The impost controls had placed severe restriction on the value of imports which prevented good quality stock from coming to India.

Winning concessions for import of horses free from value restrictions.

Horses to land ration restrictions removed

Opening up of avenue for export of Indian thoroughbreds by clearing several obstacles relating to health regulations in foreign countries and governmental protocol.

Breakthrough achieved with the export of horses to Sri Lanka and Mauritius

Successfully exporting Indian horses Astonish to race at Hong Kong and Adler in the USA in the years 1992-93

Establishing Government to government protocol between Government of India and Government of Malaysia for export of Indian horses which paved the way for Indian horses to race abroad in the Far East. Bountiful Treasure became the first horse to win in Malaysia while Polar Falcon got that distinction in Singapore. Subsequently, Saddle Up was named the Best Asian horse outside of Japan.

Protocol established between the government of Dubai and Indian government resulting in Indian horses racing during the Dubai Racing Carnival which helped raise the profile of Indian bloodstock.

Construction of international standard quarantine stables at Mahalaxmi Race Course at Mumbai which was endorsed by the Government of India and approved by the Government of Dubai.
